God of the Living - Mark 12:18-27 - Pastor Ben Dixon
Sunday Nov 13, 2022
Sunday Nov 13, 2022
What happens when you die? Christians believe what Jesus taught concerning resurrection and this causes us to live each day with hope for tomorrow. In Mark 12:18-27 we read about when Jesus is challenged with a question by some members of the Sadducees who don’t believe in life after death. This challenge is a perfect opportunity for Jesus to further demonstrate his wisdom and reiterate the teaching and hope of resurrection.

Loyal to One, Responsible to Many - Mark 12:13-17 - Pastor Ben Dixon

Sunday Nov 06, 2022
At this point in the Gospel of Mark, the religious leaders are doing everything they can to discredit and remove Jesus entirely. They approach Him with a number of difficult questions that touch on both political and theological issues. These questions have the potential to divide the crowd and pique the interest of Roman authorities implying that an insurrection is in the making. Jesus sees through their questions and communicates a powerful message that while we are responsible to many in this life, ultimately, we can only be loyal to one.

The Marks of a Religious Spirit - Mark 11:27-33, 12:1-12 - Pastor Ben Dixon

In Jesus' time, it was the religious leaders' duty to investigate the teachings and practices of other religious teachers. However, the fact that they could not discern Jesus as the true Messiah shows us that there was more going on spiritually than a general dullness of heart. Demonic power is alive and at work not only in the world but also in religious and even Christian circles in order to distort the truth and derail the church from the true mission of Jesus. What we observe in the religious leaders through this text is not far off from what can happen to us if we don’t stay humble before God and His Word.

Faith That Endures - Mark 11:20-26 - Pastor Ben Dixon

Prior to our text today, Jesus had cursed a fig tree and the disciples have discovered that it has completely withered up and died. Peter brought attention to the withered fig tree which launches Jesus into a teaching regarding faith, prayer and the inevitable tests that they will all face. We can easily see that this teaching was not only important for them but is entirely meaningful for us today as we seek to follow Jesus with all of our hearts.

Nothing But Leaves - Mark 11:12-21 - Pastor Ben Dixon
Sunday Oct 02, 2022
Sunday Oct 02, 2022
As we have studied the book of Mark, we have seen very clearly that human beings have a tendency to take what God gives and make it something entirely different. There are many reasons for why this happens but the end result is a fruitless and even harmful form of religion that misrepresents God’s heart and misleads many who truly want to know Him. In our passage today we get a clear picture of just how far things can go and what Jesus thinks about it and how He responds to it.

The King That We Need - Mark11:1-12 - Pastor Ben Dixon
Sunday Sep 18, 2022
Sunday Sep 18, 2022
We know from studying the Gospel of Mark that all of Israel is waiting for their King to come. However, they are mistaken about HOW He will come, which resulted in disbelief, confusion, and misunderstanding Jesus’ entry to Jerusalem in Mark 11:1-12. Jesus was doing exactly what was needed because He was and is the King that we long for.

The Bible uses blindness as a metaphor for our spiritual condition and at the same time, it proclaims Jesus as the one who opens blind eyes.
